| Definition | A decision is defensible when the organization can later show what was known, what was unknown, which alternatives were available, who had authority, why the selected path was reasonable and what outcome was later observed. Raven treats defensibility as an evidence object, not as a verbal explanation after the fact. The framework is read-only by default. It does not create production actions, customer communications, payments, invoices or live automation without explicit human approval. |
| Lifecycle | Weak signal intake -> evidence classification -> unknown register -> alternative preservation -> consequence framing -> authority check -> human approval -> replay -> outcome measurement -> decision memory. The lifecycle preserves rejected alternatives because enterprise review often asks why a path was not taken. Replay must reconstruct the state of knowledge at the decision time, not only the final incident narrative. |
